The 2017 Clarkston Girls Varsity swim team worked hard day in and day out to leave their mark in the history books at Clarkston High School. The girls practiced once in the morning and once after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and also once on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Swim and Dive put all of their focus into becoming the best swimmers they can be. The girls are focused and ready to win
Despite a tough swim season, the girls continue to develop friendships. In the end they remember they love each other. "I would say it's like a sisterhood though, you fight with your sisters, but you also love them to death" says Senior Lauren Burgess.
The girls love to joke around and have fun, but it also can get really competitive. "It's really good, we start off the season getting to know each other, and as the season progresses we become closer, and closer," says Senior Kelsi Taylor.
The aforementioned seniors on the team described that there is an amazing group of underclassmen and that they are not worried at all for them in the upcoming seasons. The underclassmen are very talented and they are excited for them in their future years at Clarkston.
As a team they all bond through listening to music on the bus before away meets, being together constantly, and sharing meals. Senior Ashleigh Allen shared with PawPrints that the Swim & Dive team has improved greatly from last season to this season, in her opinion.
The girls swim team works together and knows how to have a good time. They are a loving family and they put their mind to doing great and being a star.
So far some accomplishments this season from the Girls Varsity Swim and Dive team are placing first at the Milford Tri Meet, Groves High School, and Lake Orion High School. They also placed fourth at the County Meet. On November 18th, they will be attending the State Meet at Oakland University. Good Luck Swim and Dive!
