The mission of Clarkston Community Schools is to cultivate thinkers, learners and positive contributors to a global society. We are committed to designing and implementing programs that help students to achieve success for the future. We now offer the Advanced Studies Program and Diploma Endorsement which is designed for students who wish to participate in a continuously rigorous, challenging academic program that will lead to an Advanced Studies Program endorsement at the end of the senior year.
Specifically, this program was created to prepare students for one of three specific learning models during their high school career. The Advanced Studies Program will help students be prepared for AP High School Coursework or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. This unique opportunity is open to qualified 8th, 9th and 10th grade students from Oakland County. Applications will be available in late May.
In-district students who wish to receive an Advanced Studies endorsement must apply for the endorsement by November 1st of their senior year. In order to receive the endorsement, students must meet all of the requirements in grades 8-12, as outlined in the application.
To be considered for the program, students must have demonstrated academic ability in the core curriculum by earning at least a 3.0 grade point average in language arts, science, mathematics, social studies and foreign language.
Parents will sign a letter of intent indicating that they understand and accept responsibility for ensuring that their child enrolls in the required classes in the Advanced Studies Program.
